packing in many things in one day: museum, park, dinner

One of the things that was high on Mayumi's list of things to do in Utah was to visit Discovery Gateway children's museum. She remembered going the last time we were here (two years ago) and desperately wanted to go back. Wish granted! And who wouldn't want to get lost in the land of make-believe? There was a child-sized grocery store, construction site, farm, car, dress-up stage, water table... it really is a fun museum for the kids. And since it was so hot outside, an air-conditioned activity was just what we needed. Admittedly, us mamas mostly sat with the babies in the padded toddler area and let the big sisters run around on their own. They didn't want to leave.

For lunch we decided to picnic at Liberty Park and let the kids play around on the splash pad. Kim met us there with Marlo and we enjoyed relaxing in the shade.  Kim is due at any moment - and is expecting a boy! It seems everyone in the family is having boys this round. What different energy.
While the park was fun, it was hot and the babies had a hard time napping, so then it was off to go to Megumi's house for dinner.

Megumi was so sweet to have us over when she is juggling five kids and adjusting to life in her new house. But her basement playroom was huge and packed with toys (and nice and cool) - a happy place for everyone. Megumi is a fabulous cook. Really. She made us a relatively simple meal of curry rice, veggie quinoa salad and fruit salad, but everything was prepared and flavored so well. It was delicious. Food makes me so happy... and these adorable faces:
